Hi, The 4 vents on each side, 2 at the back all help to keep the bees well ventilated during the summer. Cool air enters the bottoms and warm air exits the top holes. The front hole was for the addition of a specially designed wax moth box to be fitted over the hole allowing bumblebee scent into it....
